Ishan Kishan leads beach volleyball battle during SRH getaway: WATCH

Days after their much-needed win in the IPL 2025 against Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad players took a brief but refreshing trip to the Maldives to unwind amid the demanding schedule. The mini-vacation came at an opportune moment, offering the players a chance to recharge both physically and mentally ahead of their crucial clash against Gujarat Titans on May 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With a sizeable break before their next fixture, the team seized the opportunity to head to the serene shores of the Maldives. Known for its pristine beaches, turquoise waters, and tranquil surroundings, the destination proved ideal for some much-needed rest and bonding. Players participated in a host of recreational activities, including spa sessions, swimming, and a spirited game of beach volleyball that quickly became a highlight of the trip. Leading the volleyball charge were Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma, who captained their respective teams in a friendly but competitive match. Clips of the lively contest circulated widely on social media, capturing the lighter side of life in the IPL. Meanwhile, Travis Head opted for a more relaxed approach, lounging by the shore with a drink in hand, soaking up the positive vibes and cheering on his teammates. Watch the video below Ishan Kishan Vs Abhishek Sharma in the volleyball game. 😄 pic.twitter.com/d46iqYQlR7 — Mufaddal Vohra (@mufaddal_vohra) April 28, 2025 Prior to their getaway, SRH had put up a solid performance to defeat CSK by five wickets. Their bowlers did well to restrict the Super Kings to a modest total of 154 runs. In the chase, Ishan Kishan anchored the innings with a well-crafted 44, while Kamindu Mendis contributed a valuable 32. The pair ensured that the target was achieved comfortably, with eight balls to spare, a result that kept SRH’s dwindling playoff hopes alive. Despite the enjoyable break, SRH now faces a steep challenge. Currently placed 9th on the points table, they find themselves in a must-win situation, with just five league games remaining. To have any chance of qualifying for the playoffs, they must win all of their remaining fixtures, which would bring them to a total of 14 points. However, even that may not be enough, as qualification could come down to net run rate (NRR), and SRH’s current NRR of -1.103 remains one of the poorest in the tournament.

Is Axar injured? DC campaign jolted as skipper walks off with visible discomfort

In a major setback during the ongoing IPL 2025 clash between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi skipper Axar Patel was spotted walking off the field due to an injury. The incident occurred on the fourth delivery of the 18th over when Patel attempted to stop a single and hurt his left hand in the process, the same hand he relies on predominantly for both batting and bowling. Medical staff promptly rushed onto the field and, after assessing the situation, advised the all-rounder to exit the field for further treatment. This injury has sent ripples of concern through the Delhi Capitals' camp and their supporters, with many fans visibly anxious about the fitness of their captain. With Axar being a pivotal figure for Delhi, both as a leader and an all-rounder, his absence poses a significant blow to the team’s strategy and morale, especially at a crucial stage in the game. Axar Patel seems to have injured himself and is walking out with the physio... pic.twitter.com/t8f0dFbEa8 — Rudransh (@rudraaaansh) April 29, 2025 Meanwhile, a collective batting display powered KKR to a formidable total of 204 for nine. After being invited to bat first, the Knight Riders came out all guns blazing, attacking the bowlers from the very outset. However, despite the explosive start, Delhi Capitals managed to pull things back by striking at regular intervals, preventing KKR from maintaining their initial momentum throughout the innings. Axar had played a vital role in curbing the scoring rate, delivering an economical and impactful spell. He finished with figures of two for 27 from his allotted four overs, providing key breakthroughs that helped Delhi claw back into the contest after a blistering start by KKR. His control and precision in the middle overs were instrumental in applying pressure on the opposition. With Axar off the field, veteran batter Faf du Plessis assumed captaincy duties for the remainder of the innings. This unexpected leadership change, coupled with the potential unavailability of their skipper for the chase, has added a layer of complexity to Delhi’s task. A recent visual from the dugout showed Axar sitting beside team mentor Kevin Pietersen, with heavy strapping around his injured left hand. While this offered a glimpse of his condition, no official statement has yet been released by the franchise regarding the severity of the injury or his availability for batting.

Starc’s three-for not enough as DC concede 204 against KKR at home

A collective batting display powered Kolkata Knight Riders to a formidable total of 204 for 9 against Delhi Capitals in their IPL 2025 clash on Tuesday. After being invited to bat first, the Knight Riders came out all guns blazing, attacking the bowlers from the very outset. However, despite the explosive start, Delhi Capitals managed to pull things back by striking at regular intervals, preventing KKR from maintaining their initial momentum throughout the innings. Youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi emerged as the top-scorer for the visitors, anchoring the innings with a composed knock of 44 runs off 32 deliveries. His innings included fluent stroke play and quick running between the wickets, helping KKR build a solid platform in the middle overs. Rinku Singh also chipped in with a crucial 36-run cameo, ensuring the scoring rate did not dip even as wickets continued to fall around him. The rest of the batting unit contributed in spurts, adding vital runs to keep the scoreboard ticking and push the total past the 200-run mark. On the bowling front, the hosts found some success through Australian pacer Mitchell Starc, who returned figures of 3 for 43 in his four overs. Starc bowled with pace and discipline, consistently testing the batters with his variations and short-pitched deliveries. Delhi’s spin duo, Axar Patel and the young Vipraj Nigam, also played key roles in pegging back the KKR innings. Axar showcased his experience, picking up two wickets for just 27 runs in his quota, applying pressure in the middle overs. Vipraj Nigam complemented him well, finishing with figures of 2 for 41, including key breakthroughs that disrupted KKR’s rhythm. Despite their efforts, Delhi found it challenging to contain the aggressive intent of the Kolkata batters for extended periods, as KKR managed to post a competitive total that would test the Capitals’ batting lineup in the second half of the match. Brief scores: Kolkata Knight Riders: 204 for 9 in 20 overs (Angkrish Raghuvanshi 44, Rinku Singh 36; Mitchell Starc 3/43, Axar Patel 2/27, Vipraj Nigam 2/41)

Taijul Islam takes 5 wickets for Bangladesh to trigger Zim collapse on first day

Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam claimed 5-60 to put Bangladesh in control against Zimbabwe on the first day of the second test Monday. Sean Williams and Nick Welch batted resolutely as Zimbabwe looked to be on top of Bangladesh for much of the day until Taijul triggered a sensational collapse that saw the visitors lose seven wickets for 55 runs. Taijul eventually finished with his 16th five-for in test cricket as Zimbabwe reached 227-9 at stumps. Sean Williams made a team-high 67 while Welch hit 54 for his second fifty in as many tests. They put on 90 runs for the third wicket to help Zimbabwe dominate the first two sessions. Openers Brian Bennett and Ben Curran were solid against the pacers after their captain Craig Ervine chose to bat first. They put on 41 runs before pacer Tanzim Hasan gave Bangladesh a breakthrough in the 11th over by dismissing Bennett for 21 for his debut wicket. Bennet, who scored half-centuries in both innings of the first test, edged a three-quarter length delivery that carried extra bounce to baffle him. Zimbabwe's batters then struggled against spin, with the exception of Welch, who hit both Mehidy Hasan and Taijul Islam for sixes. But Taijul's relentlessness got him a wicket when he turned one past sharply to get the better of Curran for 21. Williams and Welch kept the visitors unscathed in the whole second session, putting pressure on Bangladesh as the hosts aimed to avoid a series whitewash following a three-wicket defeat in the first test. Welch raised his second test fifty off 107 balls, punching Taijul past point for a couple of runs. Williams played patiently throughout for his fifth half-century and brought it up by chopping down a short ball of Mehidy for a single from 114 balls. Just after the second session, Welch had to retire after having been cramping since the morning, and his departure triggered a collapse. Offspinner Nayeem Hasan initiated it with a double strike, dismissing captain Ervine (5) and Williams in consecutive overs. Williams' 166-ball knock included seven fours and one six. Taijul completed his five-for by dismissing Welch, who returned to bat after the fall of eighth wicket. Welch was able to play just two balls before being out on 54, an innings laced with three fours and two sixes. Tafadzwa Tsiga was batting on 18 with Blessing Muzurabani on 2 at stumps after surviving five tricky overs. This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies. Maxwell pokes fun at Chahal’s batting ambitions with Dhoni’s bat: WATCH

Yuzvendra Chahal found himself at the center of some light-hearted banter from his Punjab Kings teammate Glenn Maxwell after he proudly displayed one of MS Dhoni’s iconic bats ahead of their upcoming IPL clash against Chennai Super Kings on April 30. Chahal, who received his ODI cap from Dhoni back in 2016, has long shared a special camaraderie with the CSK stalwart. Their bond continues off the field, as evidenced by Chahal acquiring a prized bat from the former India captain. In the Punjab Kings dressing room ahead of the Wednesday showdown, Chahal returned gleefully clutching the bat and couldn’t resist showing it off. Maxwell, noticing the bat, quipped, “Is that from Dhoni?” Chahal responded with a bit of shadow batting, proudly saying that he intended to use the willow gifted by Dhoni during the match. Maxwell, known for his wit, quickly fired back with a tongue-in-cheek remark: “You get subbed out in every game.” Adding to the humour, teammate Priyansh Arya chimed in with his own quip, “Some kid in Haryana is going to take this bat for sure.”           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Punjab Kings (@punjabkingsipl) While the dressing room echoed with laughter, Punjab Kings have serious business to attend to on the field. Currently placed fifth in the IPL standings with five wins from nine games, the side will be eyeing an important win to climb the ladder. They face a demoralised CSK squad that has struggled with consistency and has yet to find its optimal playing combination this season. Chahal has been a standout performer for PBKS in the second half of the tournament. His recent form could pose a serious threat to Chennai’s faltering middle order. With his clever variations and sharp control, the leg-spinner will be crucial in tightening the screws during the middle overs. Punjab’s opening pair of Arya and Prabhsimran Singh have shown promise, often providing brisk starts. CSK will likely rely on left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed to keep them in check early on. In skipper Shreyas Iyer, Punjab have a composed presence in the middle order capable of pacing the innings wisely. However, CSK will look to counter with Afghanistan’s mystery spinner Noor Ahmad. South African all-rounder Marco Jansen adds balance to PBKS’s lineup, while Arshdeep Singh and Chahal will lead the charge with the ball in hand.

Delhi Capitals opt to bowl first, hope to capitalise on KKR’s inconsistencies

Having opted to bowl first, Delhi Capitals will aim to secure two vital points when they take on a faltering Kolkata Knight Riders in their upcoming Indian Premier League clash on Tuesday. With the tournament entering its decisive phase, Delhi will be keen to avoid any further stumbles after enduring two losses in their previous four games, including a disappointing defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Sunday. At the top of the order, Abhishek Porel has brought a sense of urgency with his aggressive strokeplay. However, veteran Faf du Plessis, who struggled in his comeback match, will need to quickly adapt to the slower conditions at the Arun Jaitley Stadium if he is to make a meaningful contribution. KL Rahul, Delhi’s leading run-scorer this season, found it difficult to accelerate against spin during the last match. Yet, the experienced campaigner will be confident of taking the attack to KKR’s formidable spin duo of Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy. KKR, on the other hand, will look to regroup after a disappointing run that has seen them collect just seven points so far. Placed seventh in the standings, the Ajinkya Rahane-led side is in urgent need of a turnaround, having suffered back-to-back defeats and a washout in their previous three games. Issues have surfaced across all departments for Kolkata. Their batting unit remains unsettled, particularly at the top, where the constant rotation between Quinton de Kock and Rahmanullah Gurbaz alongside Sunil Narine has failed to provide stability. Much of the scoring responsibility has fallen on Rahane and young Angkrish Raghuvanshi. The middle order, comprising Venkatesh Iyer, Andre Russell, Rinku Singh, and Ramandeep Singh, has failed to consistently deliver, further compounding KKR’s struggles with the bat. Bowling has also proven to be a weak link for the Knight Riders. Their inability to strike early in the innings has allowed opposition teams to post commanding totals. A glaring example came in their last match against Punjab Kings, where they conceded a 120-run opening stand in a rain-curtailed game. Delhi’s fielding woes, meanwhile, were exposed in their loss to RCB, with Porel dropping a critical catch of Krunal Pandya, an error that cost them dearly. With both teams eager to bounce back, Tuesday’s fixture promises to be a high-stakes encounter with potential playoff implications.

Revisiting Rohit Sharma's historic 264-run knock vs Sri Lanka

It all began as India were leading the five-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. On November 13, 2014, the then Team India captain Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first in the fourth ODI against their distant rivals. With the series already in the bag, Rohit Sharma opened the innings with Ajinkya Rahane. The duo delivered a strong start to the Indian team despite Lanka having the likes of Angelo Mathews, Nuwan Kulasekara, Thisara Perera and others. With Rahane smashing boundaries all around the ground, he misjudged a delivery from Mathews and got hit on the pads. The right-hander's innings ended with a score of 28 runs in 24 balls, including six boundaries. Later, India lost another quick wicket of Ambati Rayudu on just eight runs. Also Read: DC vs KKR, IPL 2025: Dream11 prediction, probable playing XIs, head-to-head, injuries and more Before Rahane's wicket, Rohit was dropped on just four runs, but who knew that his dropped catch would turn out to be a nightmare for the Lankan bowlers. The veteran was later joined by skipper Kohli. The two Indian stalwarts lived up to the expectations as Kohli played a knock of 66 runs and Rohit went on to smash a record-breaking double ton. The Eden Gardens witnessed a batting masterclass from two different players. Kohli, a technically sound batsman who believes in finding gaps instead of blind slogging was accompanied by Rohit, who is known to punish a bad delivery coming his way. With Rohit expressing himself freely on the Eden's pitch, he turned the Lankan bowlers into spectators. Other than fours, the right-hander received a label of 'Hitman' following his display of humongous sixes. With Kohli well-settled in the middle, Rohit made sure to keep the scoreboard moving. With the bat raised up and an approach full of aggression, Rohit took 151 deliveries to reach the celebrated three figures (201) in style. Wasting no time, unsatisfied Rohit took less than 30 balls to complete 264 runs. With his impressive strokes, he continued to clear the boundary rope and scripted his name for one of the most iconic knocks ever played in the history of the format. His knock ended with a score of 264 runs off 173 balls, which was laced with 33 boundaries and nine maximums.

Samson under fire for not standing up to applaud centurion Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Representing Rajasthan Royals, batting prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi on Monday etched his name in cricketing history by becoming the youngest player to score a century in senior men’s T20 cricket. Aged just 14 years and 32 days, Suryavanshi powered Rajasthan Royals to a dominant victory over Gujarat Titans in the IPL, lighting up Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium with a breathtaking innings. The left-handed batter, who made his IPL debut on April 19, unleashed a fearless assault on the Titans’ bowling attack, racing to a century in just 35 deliveries. His explosive knock featured seven boundaries and an astonishing 11 sixes, leaving the opposition stunned and the crowd in awe. Suryavanshi eventually fell for 101 off 38 balls, bowled by pacer Prasidh Krishna, but not before receiving a standing ovation from the stadium and the Royals’ dugout for his heroic performance. By achieving this milestone, Suryavanshi broke the previous record held by Vijay Zol, who scored a century at 18 years and 118 days for Maharashtra in a domestic T20 match against Mumbai in 2013. While the cricketing world celebrated the teenager’s landmark achievement, social media users took note of a moment involving Rajasthan Royals regular captain Sanju Samson, with a few expressing disappointment over visuals showing him seated on the bench while the rest of the team stood to applaud Suryavanshi’s hundred.
